Avalon worked with UNICEF to contribute to planning and costing of national vaccination programs that build on new guidance provided for the establishment of National Immunization Strategy (NIS).
Avalon supported UNICEF in the development of the NIS Cost App to facilitate the planning, costing, and financing of medium-term national vaccination programs. The Avalon model provides a structured approach to building costed strategies, while providing country teams with flexibility to express their plans in line with national priorities and contexts. This included a Strategic Planning and Costing Module to ensure users are properly able to understand the costs associated with their strategies. It, too, provided a collaborative workspace to work on achieving the Vaccination 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.
The global vaccination agenda entered a new decade in 2020 with the endorsement of Immunization Agenda 2030 - A Global Strategy to Leave No One Behind. The NIS sets out the specific objectives to be achieved in the next three to five years, which are linked to national health strategies.
