CensusInfo India

CensusInfo is an innovative and flexible database technology for disseminating population and housing census results. In 2011, India commencer the largest administrative exercise in the world with its 15th national census – the most credible source of information on a range of national socio-economic dimensions, used as the basis for planning and policy-making at the local, state, national, and international level. Expanding on their use of CensusInfo to disseminate the 2001 census, the Government of India commissioned the 2011 Database and Dashboard initiative, with the objective of making the latest data more accessible to stakeholders in a user-friendly, interactive format. The software, available on CD-Rom and on the web, was endorsed by the United Nations Statistics Division, in partnership with UNICEF and UNFPA. The project included a capacity-building component, with training and workshops to introduce over 200 people to the CensusInfo tools and how to use them.
